The last of the stakes races for the season and always an interesting one is the Lightning Stakes.

It pits the 2yos against the 3yos in the only race of its type around the country.

One with some fascinating form is Parlophone for the Price and Kent yard and they have had a great trot of late.

She is a well bred filly who ran really well at Flemington and then spelled before resuming at Sandown.

Coming from near last on a wet track she flew home to nail them on the line.

Hoping she can sit much closer this time and use the weight advantage she receives as both a 2yo and a filly.

We should get a decent price on the day and also watch for the stable mate Euphoric Summer who has a significant weight decrease.

Her older form last prep was against some of the best juveniles around.

Thinking that the best of the day is Cracksman in the staying race now back in Adelaide.

He went back home to a race at Bendigo last time and it was a very wet track and a bleak day.

He wound up into third and given the time they ran you sure needed to stay that day so the 2500m won't be a problem.

The 4yo wanted to win two back here and he gets Todd Pannell back on which is positive.

Dropping in weight once more, happy to take the gamble he's up to this grade.
