Not a day of huge fields this week at Belmont but think we can get something out of it.
Early in the day we see a field over the 2000m that isn't full of in form horses that is for sure – bar one.
Montelena chases a hatrick after two mile victories at this track. She has come from well back in both of them.
And while this is the first attempt at this distance range, it is hard to think she won't run it given the way she finished those off.
The field size means she can sit anywhere in the race and be produced when needed. She is now getting weight off most of the rivals too.
Doubt she will be any shorter so black figures are possible.
Over to Race 8 where we'll take some value in the shape of Little Fish.
The gelding has had one run back from a spell and got home nicely after drawing out at this course and distance.
This time around he draws in and won't get back so far. As importantly he finds a track with some give and that suits him.
Twice a winner on the soft, it will help to slow down the speedsters and he does go brilliantly early in his campaigns.
He appears a very solid each way play.
