We start to make the trek toward Summer Carnival with two stakes races on the Ascot card.

There is some value in both of them including Valour Road resuming in the RS Crawford Stakes.

This gelding was racing in the big league at the start of the year. He contested the Winterbottom last November and then ran top races consecutively in the Scahill, Miss Andretti, Scenic Blast and Cyril Flower.

Importantly he has three wins first up in the past and can take up a position in running which is critical over the 1000m.

He's treated pretty well under the Set Weights & Penalties scale. You can bet he has been set for this.

The race after is the Group 3 Northerly Stakes and it is a fantastic race with many in form sprinters. It is so wide open.

Anything can win this and so we're going for a real roughie with Platoon a fascinating runner first up.

His Railway run was a cracker this time last year and then last campaign he was close up in listed company events.

He's run some very good races early in preps in the past and the 1400m allows him not to be run off his feet.

Saving ground he can rattle the last bit to get into the finish.
