We are so close to the G1 races of the Perth Summer Carnival.
A couple of stakes races are interesting to have a play in.
The Lee Steere Stakes is a traditional Railway Stakes lead up race and no doubt some of these will be trying to get into the big one.
Some ran in the Northerly in what was an upset race and may not be the best form guide.
One who didn't is old friend Kementari who has been plying his trade in far harder Melbourne races.
There was nothing wrong at all with his Manikato Stakes effort and even though he'll be giving away ground from this draw, that is his normal pattern anyway.
Watch for him to be left right to the end, held up until the last possible moment so he can't think too much and if so can pounce at good odds.
Earlier in the Fairetha Stakes, thinking there is good value in the resuming Phanta who won on debut.
His only outing saw him win at Belmont over the 1200m, sitting on the pace at good odds.
One key fact from that is he defeated Dom To Shoot who is the current favourite in this event.
From the gate he should be able to sit not far from the speed and is a good each way play.
