There is still some black type action in Perth in the lead up to the Perth Cup.
That race is the Ted Van Heemst Stakes and reckon there is a potential for the very short elect to get rolled here.
No doubt Truly Great brings in top form but just the way the race will be run, Trap For Fools can back up his Towton Cup win last week.
Off his Melbourne prep, he raced last in the Kingston Town so had zero chance back there. But then a week later he found the front over the longer journey and bolted in.
That wouldn't have taken a great toll out of him and he should get control again for Brad Rawiller who has hit form since moving west.
Look for him to rate the 7yo to the 600m then wind it up and make the fav run a very quick last sectional.
Over to the Starstruck Classic and we are more than happy to back up on the mare who suffered her first defeat in the Jungle Dawn.
Chantrea was ridden well back and on the inside needing so much luck. Pike rode for it but little came until the last 50m.
She only got out then and rattled along the fence. Again Pike is not riding the Peters runners so he must really like this mare.
Another furlong has to help given she won an Oaks and Classic at Belmont. Hopefully the inside barrier is not the worry.
