Pattaya To Break Through

3 minute read

The Michael Clements trained Pattaya has finished second at his last three starts and now looks set to break through at Kranji on Saturday.

Due to contest the third event, Pattaya lines up against a few handy types, but looks to receive all the favours from the inside draw.

Coming into this with 28 days between runs, he sets up well and Beuzelin has never missed the money aboard the son of Sacred Falls.

Quite adaptable, imagine Beuzelin parks him wherever he is comfortable before producing him in the straight.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he looks well placed based on his last three efforts and if able to hold his form, he is sure to make his presence felt.

None going better than Clements of late and trust he has Pattaya ready to peak on Saturday.

The Shane Baertschiger trained Mr Showman finally break through for his maiden win on the polytrack last start and looms as a major threat down in the weights.

Never easy making the jump from maiden company, but the time stacked up well and he looks the likely leader for Ruan Maia.

Only lightly raced he has placed in six of seven career starts with his only blemish coming at this course and distance when on debut in Singapore.

He was sent out the $1.90 favourite on that occasion, but failed to fire a shot, coincedently behind Pattaya.

His next four starts have all been on the polytrack and while a touch weak late (prior to his last start win), Baertschiger looks to have now worked him out.

Formerly trained in New Zealand, we've already seen him perform well on the turf, so I doubt that is a concern on Saturday.

If able to get away with a few cheap sectionals out in front, he is sure to take plenty of catching.

The James Peters trained Mr Hooper drops back sharply in grade and has to be respected with the blinkers back on.

He has won five of 19 attempts over this trip and on best form, he is certainly better than Class 4 company.

Anywhere near right and he should be very hard to beat.

Of the rest the Cliff Brown trained Trading Post appears the next in line.

Only lightly raced, he has won two of his four starts and while I didn't love his trial, he still has to be kept safe in his return.

Good luck and happy punting.
