Some more black type racing at Ascot as we near the big Autumn Classics and we’re shopping for value.
The Grandstand Cup is a follow on from the Pinjarra Classic and Bunbury Stakes where much of the form comes from.
One horse who comes through those races but whose form looks askew is Serenity Bay.
She was back near the rear in transit both times and made up plenty of ground without getting into the placings.
She does look like she would love the 1500m and these horses have taken turns so happy to play her at nice each way odds.
Another feature is the Gimcrack Stakes for the 3yo fillies and when the lead up race, the Supremacy Stakes, had the first five over the line at 12-1 or longer, you go fishing elsewhere.
One horse who obviously wasn't in that field as she was ending her spell was Ultimate Command but she returns off one trial and from a decent draw.
She won by leading all the way on debut so has gate speed and has form which stacks up well here.
It's the sort of race where they look even on paper and luck in running is therefore crucial. Being out of trouble could be a great spot to be.
If the market goes looking for the runs from two weeks ago, we might even do better than current betting boards suggest.
