Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 16.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Port Macquarie, Orange, Cranbourne, Swan Hill, Ipswich, Toowoomba and Darwin.
PORT MACQUARIE: RACE 1 @ 12:40 PM
Looks a very winnable race for UNWAVERING FAITH (2) who has been very good of late running second at his past two starts. Morgan was on board for the latest at this course and distance and sticks. The one to beat. CURIOSO (4) has been in career best for without winning placing at four of his past five starts. This race is not overly strong and he can be in the finish again. OWNED UP (1) failed last start but go on good second over this track and trip on debut. RAINBOW MAN (8) has had a few chances but will be rock-hard fit fourth-up. DR MAYHEM (6) best of the rest in a race with a long tail.
SELECTIONS: Unwavering Faith to win.

CRANBOURNE: RACE 6 @ 8:00 PM
SHE'S ON TIME (2) tried hard last time but could not peg back the winner at Sandown. Ideally placed in this line-up and stable is in excellent form. Should go close. CRIMSON ACE (3) was never a threat second-up in Sydney last time. Will be fitter for the run and is expected to feature. PLUCKY PIROUETTE (7) went around at huge odds in town last time and was never in contention. Previous form had been fair and is not without claims. LIVVY LASS (5) has been racing in most consistent fashion of late and should again make a bold bid. Respect.
SELECTIONS: Back She's On Time.
IPSWICH: RACE 6 @ 4:12 PM
SQUIRREL HUNTER (6) seeks the hat-trick off the CL1 here and is improving all the time. Reaches peak fitness and is poised to take the next step. CONTEMPTUOUS (1) won the Maiden first-up by a space and has placed in stronger races since at Doomben. He's ready to win and will get every chance racing forward from the handy barrier. SPIRIT HOUSE (5) will go much better back on a dry surface. Peaks and has plenty up the sleeve. Hard to risk the Gollan yard. AND OVER AGAIN (7) and ZEELUCK (8) are in the mix at longer odds off last start wins.

TOOWOOMBA: RACE 1 @ 5:45 PM
BETTER GET READY (5) was tracking like an early winner before rearing at the start at the Sunshine Coast and didn't get into it. He can lead from the rail jumping with them. Has a form hoop aboard and can prove too good for this line-up. LAURIE (2) missed a nose at Warwick on resumption a well-bet favourite and has more to give. Has been freshened and can make the finish. FAIRY DELL (17) is running out of chances but would be right in it with a repeat of the near miss this track two starts back. CHERNO ALPHA (13) is an improver who has been racing in VIC and SA with the Stokes yard. Has ability and the betting will say if he's on-song for the new barn.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Better Get Ready.
SWAN HILL: RACE 8 @ 5:00 PM
CRANC (2) didn't have an easy run at all when just missing the placings at Sale. It was hard to watch for his backers that day and can make up for it in this event. THE PHANTOM BANTAM (5) steps up in trip again today after breaking the maiden at Hamilton and then winning the start after. Has a good case to go on with it. ART DEALER (6) was outclassed at Sandown and comes back to more suitable company today. Place chance. REBELLIOUS LORD (4) is better than the last start performance at Bendigo. Was big odds though. Could sneak a first four spot today. MCCAIN (7) is a similar case with a disappointing run at Ballarat last Sunday. Follows up quickly but more an exotics chance.
SELECTIONS: Cranc the win.
