Best From The West: Ascot – 1st May 2021

There are some interesting races late in the day which hold most attention at Ascot and we’re giving trainer Adam Durrant a go.

Race 7 is a good betting race over the short course with plenty in form and some having raced each other.

One who comes from different times of year is This'Ll Testya and she is a fascinating runner.

She has done some nice things so far before ending the prep clearly racing out of character and showing a slow recovery. That race had some nice horses in it including winner Dom To Shoot.

Things didn't exactly start well when losing the rider in the first trial but it was back on track second time around at Lark Hill.

She is a speed horse and if the others know that and hand up, she might just get there without significant pressure.

It might be our best chance to get on her at nice odds for a while.

The following race sees a big field and a pretty wide open race. They might back a few and one who looks to keep improving is Fiery Water who is now third up.

The 4yo was fair resuming but then showed much more speed to lead and only got run down late three weeks ago.

Now fitter, the 1200m should mean they won't need to go as fast and from this nice barrier, Clint Johnston-Porter can decide to lead or even take a sit.

He's an each way bet in this sort of race.
