Sydney Specials: Rosehill - 3rd July 2021

Very deep program at Rosehill on Saturday with a host of leading chances across the 10 race card program.

Can't say I'm in love the concept of the Midway Handicaps but don't want to be too quick to judge, we've got a capacity field on Saturday and much like the Highways there should be spirited betting (though I'm unlikely to get involved).

The Team Snowden trained Smart Image put the writing on the wall two back before taking a good step forward last start when second behind Shadow Crush.

A winner of three of his first four starts, he lost his way a touch before showing he was back on track last start.

Forced to go back from the wide draw he was a sectional star and looks well placed to go one better on Saturday.

A question mark on a genuine heavy track but if Team Snowden elect to run him that gives you enough confidence to side with him.

Suspect he can settle closer from the inside draw and with clear air he should prove hard to hold out.

Recent stable addition Steel Diamond only went down narrowly first up and looks well placed to also go one better on Saturday.

Set to line up in the final event, Steel Diamond will have no concerns with the wet track and a key booking with Nash aboard.

The official speedmaps have her landing in the 1X1 and from there she looks very hard to beat.

Favourite Expat won well last start and looks to lead again, however she is up 2.5kg and is also up in trip - two key negatives.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings Steel Diamond looks very well treated and if able to springboard off her first up run she should go very close.
