There is only a small field for the Belmont Classic on the weekend but it is a surprisingly good betting contest.

Happy to think the fillies are a big chance in what is Perth's Winter Derby and Chili Is Hot is coming good as the trips get longer.

After several efforts at the mile, she stepped up to the Belmont Oaks and stayed tough to withstand Sheza Chalmer.

That was after going back in the field before that so maybe the new tactics were what she needed.

She can try the same thing again here and is good odds to suggest the colts are beatable. The favourite might be vulnerable in the small field.

Later in the day there is a 1000m scamper with plenty of in form three year olds down to run.

It will be another damp track in Perth and just keeps topping up.

So with that in mind, Sketta will be a big hope to make it a hatrick of wins from a spell.

She won nicely a Pinjarra first up and then came to town sitting back in the field and running on.

Now while she drops back to the 1000m here, that last run was 3½ weeks back and on a testing surface, that will be regarded as further.

There is also a big jockey switch to William Pike so that can't hurt.
