Sydney Specials: Rosehill - 24th of July 2021

We return to Rosehill on Saturday with an improving track on the cards.

Scratchings have cruelled the last few weeks but hoping the fields hold up tomorrow across the 10 race program.

Keen to bet late in the day and side with the much in-form Gary Portelli stable.

Striking at 22 per cent from his last 50 runners the eighth event looks a key target race for three-year-old filly Arctic Thunder.

An eye catching third in the Wagga Guineas three back, she again wasn't beaten far at Randwick Kensington before an eight week break.

Lining up at Canterbury over 1250m she struggled to get involved but was solid through the line and now backs up quickly (10 days later) with Berry going aboard.

At the weights she looks very well placed and is sure to appreciate the step up to 1500m.

No question this has always been the plan and with even luck she should prove hard to hold out.

We've had to be patient waiting for the Team Snowden trained Smart Image but he looks set to line up tomorrow in the ninth event.

Scratched from two heavy tracks, he is 49 days between runs but looks in fine fettle judging by his latest trial.

A winner of three of his first four starts, he lost his way a touch before showing he was back on track last start at this course and distance.

Forced to go back from the wide draw he was a sectional star and looks well placed to go one better on Saturday.

Suspect he can settle closer from the inside draw and with clear air he should prove hard to hold out.
