Sydney Specials: Randwick - 7th August 2021

3 minute read

Back to back good tracks at Randwick this weekend with a few our stars resuming - bring it on!

The Missile Stakes is the main feature on the card with the Joe Pride trained Fasika the early favourite.

She's never really been one of mine but she finds a very thin race on Saturday.

Main market danger Kolding ran well in the Autumn equivalent (Expressway Stakes) first up last preparation and went out on a winning note but knowing Waller he'll have a fair bit of improvement to come.

On the map Fasika looks to get all the favours and if Avdulla can pinch a few cheap sectionals she should be very hard to get past.

The Team Hawkes trained Remarque has always held quite the 'boom' and given his breeding (brother to Estijaab) you can see why they've wanted to pump up his tyres.

However when you strip it all back he won well on debut before being sent out at $5.50 in the Todman and was only beaten two lengths behind Anamoe.

I'm not saying the 'boom' is completely justified but for a horse that's only had two starts he's got a fairly decent CV.

Given two trials in the lead up he should be fairly forward and gets every chance at the weights with Paulele giving him 3kg.

The map looks great with Berry expected to get a lovely trail just off what looks to be a good tempo.

Could need a touch of luck getting off the fence but if he is good enough he should be able to get himself into the clear.

Currently equal fourth pick in the early market for the Golden Rose he'd want to be going very close as if he can't win on Saturday I highly doubt he gets near them in the Golden Rose.

Yeah that's right I'm calling D-Day on a horse that's only had two starts, but by D-Day I mean whether he can go on to be a Group 1 winner.

Sticking with Team Hawkes in the final event with Kingsheir.

Only lightly raced he displayed good ability in his maiden preparation and now returns as a gelding.

He won two of his five starts and much like Remarque he should enjoy a favourable trip from the inside draw.

Always need a touch of luck getting off the fence but trust in Avdulla to get it right.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings he sits clear off his effort behind Discharged two back.

He was sent out the $2.80 favourite there and while not a great deal of fat in his early price, it still looks a decent gamble.
