We steer away from the city and head inland for the running of Kalgoorlie Cup as it features as the metro meeting this Saturday.

Naturally we have to focus on the $150,000 Listed race and even though only nine are entered, only two are longer than 11-1.

The Boulder Cup is the race many will focus on won by Friar Fox. It included seven of those contesting here and it was a bunched finish.

With that in mind we want to find something away from that and Red Hot Tip has had a good grounding leading into the 2200m of the Cup.

He's now fourth up from a soft barrier and can just mind his own business in the first half of the race.

After carrying 60+kg of late, he drops to 54kg and will be very strong through the line, considering he was contesting races over further in the Autumn.

Then to the last where William Pike can do as he so often does and that is to send punters home happy via Jackpot Legend.

This son of Nostradamus has his first run since arriving from Victoria.

After breaking the maiden at Stony Creek by leading all the way and winning with ease, he tried the same thing in town and faded right out.

That was a very heavy track and even if some rain arrived this Saturday, it wouldn't be a Heavy 9 like that was.

This is the right distance from a perfect alley to lead again and prove hard to get past.
