TRIAL POINTERS

RANDWICK October 8: The fastest 1050m heat win was recorded by the trial enigma RUSSIAN STANDARD. He cleared out for a big nine lengths win in hot time (61.27; 33.87) to remain unbeaten in six trials while his race record reads two placings from three starts, largely due to his race day behaviour. The day he puts it all together he will blow away a maiden field.

ROSEHILL Sept 28: Chris Waller won a 900m maiden heat with the impressive unraced filly ESPIONA. By Extreme Choice, she is a real talent who has shown plenty in her thee trials. This was her first hitout since she won a Rosehill trial in June and her turn of foot over the last 200m in fast time (55.07; 34.67) will ensure she is fancied to win on debut. Other maidens to go into the blackbook included the heat winner SAVOURER (55.02; 34.80). Dundeel mare IL AFFARE, fourth in the G1 NZ Derby last season, took the eye with a strong closing third in the fastest 1030m heat (62.58; 35.20) in her first Sydney trial for Waller.

WARWICK FARM September 21: The fastest maiden heat winner SACHELLO (46.98; 33.60) shared the lead on the outside and looks to have come on well from her only start last season as she was never under full pressure to get the upper hand.
