Sydney Specials: Randwick – 26th December 2021

3 minute read

Unfortunately I did little last week to help with the spending money for Christmas but we go again with a solid card at Randwick on Boxing Day.

First of all I hope everyone has a great Christmas and all the best for 2022! Now onto finding some winners.

The Joe Pride stable is certainly humming and the Summer Cup looks a key target race for the in-form Stockman.

An eye catcher at all three runs back, Stockman is clearly trending the right way and is sure to appreciate the step up to 2000m.

A close fourth in the Villiers Stakes last start, it should provide the perfect platform for him to explode on Sunday.

Unlikely to get his preferred dry track however it shouldn't post to much of a concern he performs well in all conditions.

After doing your replays I can understand that you would want to back Criaderas to beat him given he stood him up and gunned him down in the Villiers, however I'm not so sure he will get the trip.

A lot of get back milers give the impression they will appreciate the step up to 2000m, however they often don't.

This is all purely feel so he might, his sectionals suggest he will, though I can just see King popping him out at the top of the straight and he doesn't run on.

Lightning Jack falls into a similar boat as he too looks a query at the trip.

As a result I can mark Stockman fairly short and he presents a good betting opportunity on Sunday.

The James Cummings trained Tamerlane was awesome in his return and looks very hard to beat in the eighth event.

A sectional star behind El Buena he was very hard to miss and a big tick with Bowman sticking aboard.

While yet to fire second up previously, excuses can be made for both prior attempts and the fact he won fifth up last preparation suggests he isn't just a fresh horse.

At the weights he rates top of his last start and with further improvement anticipated he should prove very hard to beat.
