Starlight To Turn The Tables

3 minute read

Talented galloper Starlight appears well placed to return to the winner’s stall on Saturday when set to contest the ninth event at Kranji.

An eye catching second behind his stablemate Celavi last start, he now gets a 4kg swing in his favour.

Beaten just over a length, he sits clear on weight adjusted ratings and has drawn to receive all the favours on the inside.

Kept fresh (49 days) he was given a soft trial in the lead up and is sure to appreciate getting back onto the turf track.

Of his four career wins, three have come on the course proper and he has placed in six of seven attempts over this distance.

There is plenty of speed engaged so I'm hopeful he doesn't get too far back as he could land in awkward spot.

If able to take up a position midfield he should get every chance to run home over the top of them.

Celavi has won seven of her 12 starts but would have to be a risk on the turf track.

In three attempts she has only placed once and this looks much tougher at the weights.

Nonetheless she is a supremely talented mare and is sure to give them all something to gun down in the straight.

The Stephen Gray trained Kharisma failed to fire as favourite last start behind Celavi however he is much better than that and clearly worth another chance.

Since trialled well much like Starlight he should appreciate getting back onto the turf track and a return to his best form should see him right in the finish.

Of the rest the every consistent Makkem Lad appears the next in line.

From 24 starts he has placed in 16 attempts and with the added aid of the claim he has to be included in the main chances.

Good luck and happy punting.
