An eye-catching return against older sprinters will have smart filly Startantes ready to beat her own age group on a big day of Group 1 racing at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Robert Heathcote's put the writing on the wall when resuming in the G2 Victory Stakes, settling near the tail but running on to get within 1.7L of the winner.

That was her first outing since she was just a nose away from a Group 1 win in the Surround Stakes at Randwick in February and she gets back up to that trip on Saturday.

Startantes has won two of three second-up attempts so is sure to have come on and looks well placed.

The Doomben 10,000 is the day's feature and in-form three-year-old Mazu looks set to continue his winning streak.

Team Snowden's gelding made it four wins from as many runs this time in when winning the Arrowfield Sprint in Sydney and while he has been freshened since he has been kept up to the mark with a trial win.

He is three from five at this distance and ratings suggest he can put a Group 1 win on the board.
