Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - 21st and 23rd of November

3 minute read

Leading trainer Laurie Laxon unearthed a very promising type on Friday night, with debutant Stirling leading throughout in the second event.

Ridden by Danny Beasley the son of Chinese Dragon proved too slick for his rivals when saluting by over four lengths.

Bred in New Zealand, Stirling was purchased and transferred to Singapore after winning a trial in good style back in April.

Stirling

Not knocked around in his sole trial in Singapore (finished fifth), Stirling was met with good support, starting the second favourite ($3.20) behind the Shane Baertschiger trained Jubilation ($1.60).

Bouncing away well from the middle draw, Stirling found the front fairly comfortably and always travelled strongly under Beasley.

Drawing two lengths clear entering the straight, Stirling extended his margin inside the 200m, notching up a most convincing victory.

Comparatively Stirling recorded the quickest time of the night, marked one length superior to Class 4 victor Dragon Force.

More notably, Stirling was marked more than six lengths quicker than an average Initiation winner.

Already a four-year-old, the age curve is against Stirling, however the manner in which he won on Friday night suggests he will be better over further.

The beaten margins also gave a good push for the strength of Stirling's performance.

Stirling defeated the third placegetter (Silver Star) by five lengths and beat the sixth placegetter (Moon Of Neptune) by over eight lengths.

He remained the stand-out performance on Friday night and is a galloper worth following in the coming months.

Northern Boss

The Michael Clements trained Northern Boss returned to the winner's stall in fine order on Sunday evening, when proving too strong in the fifth event.

Though safely held behind Super Winner at his second start, Northern Boss bounced right back to form, confirming the strength of his debut victory.

Dominant last start winner, Brahma Circus started the short priced favourite ($1.80), with Northern Boss the second elect ($4.80).

Jumping away well on the outside, Northern Boss pressed forward to settle down fourth one off the fence.

Run at a dawdling speed, Brahma Circus received all the favours in the front, in what was clearly a sit and sprint affair.

Peeling out four wide on straightening, Northern Boss loomed ominously passing the 300m, before letting down powerfully to run down Brahma Circus inside the 100m.

Kicking on strongly to score by a length, Northern Boss notched up a new career peak, improving eight pounds on his previous best.

While the overall time wasn't anything flash, Northern Boss recorded the fastest last 600m of the evening — marked two lengths superior to his rivals.

The three-year-old averaged 11.67 second 200m sections for this last 800m and ran home his last 400m in a slick 22.91.

Northern Boss displayed above average ability on debut and appears set to continue that upward spiral and should be followed closely.

Dragon Dynasty

Former Malaysian based galloper Dragon Dynasty lived up to his heavy market support, when saluting easily in the eighth event.

Unplaced in his Singapore debut back in October, the son of Hold That Tiger proceeded to show sharp improvement, when saluting by close to four lengths.

Although jumping away well, Dragon Dynasty was trapped wide early, forcing Danny Beasley to press on and settle third, outside the Michael Freedman trained Flying Zero.

Unable to slot in, Dragon Dynasty was caught three wide without cover passing the 500m and made the turn four wide.

Able to still overcome this hindrance, Dragon Dynasty loomed up strongly inside the 300m and quickly took over passing the 200m.

Eased down over the concluding stages, Dragon Dynasty was one of the most impressive victors of the afternoon, improving nine pounds on his previous best.

Since transferred to Singapore, Dragon Dynasty has improved 12 pounds and given he is only lightly raced, he appears open to further improvement and should be added to your blackbook.
