Consistent mare Tycoon Tara was quickly away and soon crossed to the lead. She then travelled along nicely at a reasonable pace (first 600m 35.5) before sprinting quickly on straightening. She was never threatened from that point and went on to score by almost two lengths.

Bonaria was seventh, between runners to the home turn. She got a split at the 200m and ran on to take a good first-up second.

Politeness raced in sixth place, caught three wide. She was under riding nearing the home turn and battled on in the sprint home to finish third.

Griante was a handy fourth, moved up three wide at the home turn, went to second at the 200m then battled on for (2.4 lengths) fourth.

The favourite Girl Guide was third on the rails but was under riding coming to the turn and just battled for (4 lengths) seventh, putting up a rare disappointing performance at her first run this preparation.
