Pornichet wins 2015 The Bundaberg Rum Doomben Cup Group 1 $650,000 at Doomben (QLD) , 2000m.

Pornichet was a most impressive winner. He began well from his good barrier (4) and after being handy early, eased to settle nicely in seventh place, following a solid pace. He made a quick move (deep) at the 600m, swept to the lead on turning for home, had a sixth lengths lead at the 100m and went on win comfortably by two and a quarter lengths.

Weary was well back in tenth place, improved (wide with cover behind Pornichet) from the 600m but could not sprint with that horse and was distant fourth at the 200m before rallying well for second, in a strong effort.

I'm Imposing was 11th on the rails to the 600m. He fanned deep on turning for home and made up late ground for a good third.

Moriarty was ninth between runners at the 800m, improved under riding rounding at the home turn and was a distant third at the 200m. He then kept battling on for a sound (3.6 lengths) fourth, making it a top-four finish for imported stayers.

Of the others Silent Achiever was near last most of the way before finishing a disappointing (8.8 lengths) tenth while second favourite Leebaz set a solid pace in front but dropped out from the home turn to finish (11 lengths) 14th, also racing well below his best.
