Hartnell continues to race in outstanding form, following his effortless with in the Chelmsford Stakes (Gr 2, 1600m) at this track a fortnight ago with another brilliant win here. He enjoyed a perfect trip behind the leader (Storm The Stars), cruised to the front at the 300m and he then raced away to again score easily by a big margin.

Who Shot Thebarman was back in second last place in the small six-horse field to the home turn and did well making late ground along the rails for a distant second in a promising effort at his third run this preparation.

Storm The Stars led the field until nearing the 300m and then battled on quite well for a distant third.

Magic Hurricane was fourth most of the way and held that position at the post, beaten just over eight lengths while Preferment was third to the 600m, moved up nearing the turn but then just battled over the latter stages to finish (8.2 lengths) fifth.
