Top weight and the highest rated runner, Junoob scored a good win with a sound staying effort here. Partnered by Rory Hutchings, they settled a handy third going out of the straight with a circuit to run. Down the back and past the 1200m Hutchings had Junoob travelling sweetly, one out and one back. They moved a little closer at the 800m and approaching the last corner ranged up three wide turning in. Into the straight, Junoob took a few strides to balance then edged up to share the lead at the 250m and soon after pulled his way into the lead, to stay on best at the line.

Murphy's Delight pulled hard in second last place at the 1200m, moved up widest around the last corner and ran on well, especially over the final 100m, just grabbing second short of the post.

Alegria was third (rails) around the bend, got the split at the 300m, led briefly at the 200m but was outfinished, losing second at the post.
