Cavaloce wins 2016 City Of Marion Stakes Listed $100,000 at Morphettville (SA), 1200m.

Cavaloce followed her win in the Durbridge Stakes (Listed, 1200m) at this track on 15 October with another stakes success two starts later. She settled back in last place from her outside barrier (12), before going widest of all at the home turn. She then put in a solid finish in the centre of the track to grab an impressive late-closing win.

Lope De Capio settled in ninth place from barrier 11, improved (wide with cover) from 600m, challenged at the 200m, took the lead at the 100m and then fought well for second, beaten only a long head.

Outsider Mubakkir was fifth (three wide), challenged at the 200m and then battled on nicely to take the minor placing.

The favourite Lord Aspen settled sixth place on the rails from his inside barrier (1), was pushed back at the home turn and never looked a threat, racing in restricted room in the straight, to finish (5.2 lengths) ninth.
