The two year old Kronos made a dream start to his racing career when he saluted the judge for his first win in the 1050 metre opening event.

Prepared at Flemington by Stephen Brown and having the services of Jamie Kah Kronos settled well and continued to be well placed throughout the race.

The two year old Split Lip made it two wins in a row when she won the Dequetteville Stakes which was run over 1050 metres.

Continuing the good run of trainer Will Clarken the Emily Finnegan ridden Split Lip came from a rearward position with a strong run over the last 100 metres.

The Macdonald/Gluyas training combination continued its good run when Royal Rumble won the 1600 metre third event.

Guided by Clare Lindop, Royal Rumble gradually improved from a rearward position to win.

Carrying number seven saddle cloth Desert Lashes completed a good double when he won his seventh race in succession in the 1100 metre fourth race.

Prepared in the red centre by Lisa Lefoe and having the services of Shayne Cahill, Desert Lashes led all the way.

After being bred in Ireland and doing much of its early racing in the USA Fastnet Latina brought up its fourth Australian win in the 1600 metre fifth race.

Trained at Ballarat by Archie Alexander and ridden apprentice Jordan Childs Fastnet Latina was well placed.

Patrons were treated to a thrilling finish which saw Counter Pulse prevail in the 1200 metre sixth race.

Being under the dare of Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas, Counter Pulse raced in a forward position throughout the event.

Kenedna put in a good Schweppes Oaks trial when she took out the See South Australia Laelia Stakes which was run over 1600 metres.

Prepared by Darren Weir at Ballarat and ridden by versatile hoop John Allen Kenedna came from well back with a strong run in the straight.

After running a solid second here recently Grand Chancellor entered black type company when he took out the Junction Port Adelaide Guineas which was contested over 1800 metres.

Being under the care of Phillip Stokes and guided to victory by Dom Tourneur Grand chancellor came from a better than midfield position to win in a tight finish.
