Winning form prevailed in the first black-type race of the season for the two-year-olds, Sir Nate now two-for-two. He jumped greenly from the outside stall (seven) then settled third yet three wide before they reached the crossing.

At the top of the straight all seven runners had a winning chance but Sir Nate balanced and steadily went after the leader (Masque), collaring him at the 200m with jockey Masa Tanaka keeping him going to win by three-quarters of a length.

Little separated the next three home with King Louis, who raced very greenly to the 400m, making a promising run at them from the 300m yet was unable to haul in the winner, a nose ahead of Masque, who took over at the 300m and also stayed on well.

A further neck back was Queen Of The Air, who was handy enough at the 200m and held on for fourth.

Age: 2yo Type: OPEN

This Listed 1000m for juveniles saw the colt Sir Nate remain undefeated as he showed a superior sustained finish the run home after racing third wide mostly throughout. He led at the 100m and held them out well to score by three-quarters of a length in 59.39 to make it two from two. King Louis on debut was colossal after doing it all wrong at times and the big baby was tardy and last away plus very deep throughout. He strode up deepest and kept coming for a huge second and when he learns to be a racehorse the wins will flow. Masque sat outside the leader and fought very hard for third beaten less than a length. Queen Of The Air finished fourth beaten a length and a quarter but she was galloped on so the effort was meritorious. She was away averagely then booted up handy the inside and got the fence run to lead briefly at the 200m before being headed the final 100m,. Got The Call showed good leader speed on debut so back to all maiden juveniles looks a winner in waiting. Karaka Kid was not too bad on debut and would also just about win a maiden juvenile event next time out. Sir Nate looks professional in that he lifts the run home whether it be after a hard run or a speed duel. King Louis was the eyecatcher as if he had not been so keen and green and been as wide throughout then would have won for sure.
