Skywalk looks set for a big preparation ahead following a dominant victory in the Class 3 over 1000m on the Polytack at Kranji on Sunday.

Going straight to the lead from barrier 10, Skywalk kicked well clear in the straight to record a four length victory over Red Dawn in second with Sir Isaac third.

Coming into the race second up off a solid returning effort, Skywalk ran to a new career peak rating, slightly higher than what he achieved when a close fourth in the Group 3 The Sprint last campaign.

The four-year-old gelding has now won four of his 10 career starts, placing a further three occasions and recorded a class record for his time of 57.92 for the 1000m on the Polytack.

Trainer James Peters indicated he may look at the Group 2 EW Barker Trophy (1400m) and with likely more improvement to come for Skywalk, stakes wins don’t appear far away for the son of Battle Paint.

Of the beaten runners, Red Dawn in second ran slightly below his previous effort when fourth in a Benchmark 83 but continues to race consistently well with Sir Isaac in third running well below his previous Class 3 efforts.

Skywalk certainly looks one to follow going forward this campaign but Red Dawn and Sir Isaac are also capable of much more than they showed today.

Friday night saw yet another impressive win from three-year-old Fillibuster who jumped the short priced favourite and ran away to a three and a half length victory over Wijaya with Dreamweaver third.

Coming off a terrific debut win over the same trip on the Polytrack, Filibuster progressed to a class 4 and proved too good for the older horses and certainly looks set to continue making her way through the grades.

The Cliff Brown-trained runner ran a Timeform figure of 80p on debut and improved six pounds on that effort to return a figure of 86p which is very impressive for such a lightly raced filly out of a Class 4.

Despite playing up at the barriers, Filibuster was away well from the inside draw and didn’t have everything go her way with Uncle Lucky pushing her throughout but in the straight the Ilovethiscity three-year-old showed her true class and looks set for a big preparation ahead.

With now two wins to her name from as many starts, Filibuster certainly has the makings of a very good horse going forward and we will no doubt see her in stakes company very soon.
