Winner of the Winter Championship (LR, 1600m) at Flemington in July, Tshahitsi followed his good first-up fourth in the Standish Handicap (Gr 3, 1200m) at the same track on New Year’s Day with a smart win here, taking his record to 12 wins (with four placings) from 26 starts. He soon drove through to take the lead and was then able to steady the pace (first 800m in 48.77). He got a break on straightening and then fought back gamely to score well.

The favourite Dollar For Dollar travelled nicely in third place, moved up well on turning for home, challenged the 200m and kept fighting on to take second.

Wyndspelle had a good trip in fourth place on the rails, continued along the inner in the straight and kept battling on quite well to hold the minor placing.

Chamois Road raced in back in eighth place on the rails and made ground in restricted room in the straight for (1.7 lengths) fourth, looking somewhat unlucky
