A promising third on debut in the Chairman’s Stakes (Gr 3, 1000m) on 3 February, Prairie Fireimproved with a nice win here. He dropped back early from the widest draw (10) and moved inwards to settle second last in behind the pack.

At the crossing rider Mark Zahra eased away from the inner and the colt lay third last but with a great view of proceedings. Inside the 300m they were just a couple of lengths off the pace, a length closer at the 200m then swept up to take over at the 100m and had it sewn up soon after, coming away at the line with plenty in reserve.

Khulaasa co led at the crossing, put two lengths on them at the 300m but could not hold out the winner yet was three and three quarter lengths clear of Invincible Lad who tried to tack on to the winner, emerging from the pack to hold third.

Nuclear Blitz had every chance, hanging on for fourth.
