Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - May 11

3 minute read

There was just the one meeting in Singapore this week with nine races spread across the turf and Polytrack on Friday night.

Nimitz

One of the more progressive types to win was Nimitz who led all the way to claim the Class 4 Premier (1400m) his second win from only four career starts.

A well beaten favourite when returning over the 1200m on the Polytrack the start prior, Nimitz appreciated going back on the turf, finding the lead without too much trouble from barrier 4 and holding off Wecando in second with Little Big Man Third.

The Steven Burridge-trained runner returned a new career peak Timeform figure of 73p, four pounds above his debut win over 1200m last campaign.

The son of Ready’s Image was much better behaved behind the gates this time after receiving a warning over his antics last campaign.

Nimitz still looks very raw and green with plenty of improvement to come but being able to hold off his rivals over the concluding stages looks to have a future ahead of him and is one to keep an eye on.

My Horse

My Horse has continued his strong recent form with another win in the Class 3 over 1000m on the Polytrack to make it three victories from his last five outings, placing on the other two occasions.

Away well, My Horse settled up on the speed from barrier 4 and despite looking beaten at the 200m fought back strongly to edge out First Choice by just under a length with Southern Spur two lengths away in third.

My Horse returned a new career peak Timeform figure of 83, four pounds above his previous effort when runner up to First Choice in similar company over the same trip by a nose.

These two horses appear to have created a very close rivalry with First Choice more lightly raced than My Horse also running to a new career peak Timeform figure of 83.

Both runners go forward to put themselves in the race over the shorter trips and have continued to make their way through the grades.

My Horse, a rising five-year-old has taken a while to hit his stride but has come back in outstanding order this campaign and can really go on with it now possibly in Stakes company.
