Coldstone wins Tab Brisbane Qlty Listed $125,000 at Doomben (QLD), 1600m.
The Tony Gollan-trained gelding Coldstone broke through for his first stakes success here, his seventh win (with 11 placings) from 41 starts to date. He travelled well back in third place, tracking a fast tempo, before improving nicely rounding the home turn. He dashed clear at the 200m and then drew away to score comfortably.
Sold For Song raced well back in seventh place, improved (deep) from the 600m, went to fourth at the 200m and kept running on to dead-heat for second with Ruling Dynasty who had raced back in sixth place (on the rails) before battling on well in the straight.
Cantbuybetter travelled in fourth place and kept fighting on to hold that position, narrowly in front of the favourite Kay Kay Boy who set a hectic tempo in the lead (being pressured by Prioritise ) before weakening over the latter stages for (3.9 lengths) fifth.
