The Odyssey wins 2018 Spirit Of Boom Phelan Ready Listed $125,000 at Doomben, 1110m.

Promising Kelly Schweida-trained colt The Odyssey took his record to two wins and a second from three starts in winning here.He was smartly away, settled outside the leader (Well Prepared), got to the front at the 200m and then fought back gamely for a very good win.

The favourite Sun City settled in third place on the rails, Jeff Lloyd angled him into clear running at the 200m and he then kept battling on nicely in the sprint home for second in a sound first-up effort.

Krameric raced in fifth place, one off the rails, moved up rounding the home turn and kept running on well for third.

His Chris Waller-trained stablemate Lubuk settled in second last place in the eight-horse field, improved (deep) at the home turn and kept making ground for (1.9 lengths) fourth in a promising debut.
