Morphettville Parks Race Review - 09th March 2019

The former SA apprentice Zac Spain was the first to land a winner when the three-year-old Starouz made it two wins in succession in the 1550 metre opening race at Morphettville on Saturday.

Being in the care of Caulfield based mentor Mick Price Starouz came from the rear of the field with a strong, well timed run over the concluding stages.

Hoop Jason Holder continued his good run when the first starter Mayam took out the second race which was contested over 1000 metres.

Prepared at Angaston by Tony McEvoy Mayam came from the rear of the field with a strong run along the rails to win.

Tony McEvoy brought up a running double when Becharm won the 1300 metre third race.

Having the services of Todd Pannell and having her first SA start Becharm raced in a midfield position before making a late bid for victory.

Tony McEvoy continued an excellent day when Rockarral brought up a treble for him in the 2400 metre fourth race.

Bringing up a double for hoop Jason Holder Rockarral came from a midfield position to finish off the event in good style.

A well judged ride on the part of Jake Toeroek saw Blue Morpho take out the 1400 metre fifth race.

Prepared by Will Clarken and having her first start after a spell Blue Morpho settled well in the middle of the field before getting to the front in the latter stages of the event.

Todd Pannell landed his second winner for the afternoon when he guided Equal Love to victory in the 1000 metre sixth race.

Trained by Phillip Stokes, Pannell brought Equal Love along the rails to win convincingly.

Trainer Will Clarken landed the second leg of a double when his charge Moghul Empire won the 1550 metre seventh race.

Having the services of Victorian apprentice Jack Martin, Moghul Empire was well placed.

Naracoorte trainer Sue Jaensch kept her good strike rate intact when her charge Lockdown Jack took out the 1300 metre final event.

Ridden by apprentice Georgina Cartwright Lockdown Jack came from a midfield position to bring up win number five from twenty-one starts.
