Rox The Castle wins The Sofitel Listed, $140,000 at Flemington, 1400m.

Lightly raced Rox The Castle added win seven from 12 starts in his first run at black-type level and showed great heart over the final stages. From a wide draw he sped to the front, then eased to settle a length off the pace.

Camped one off the fence to the top of the straight, he levelled up near the 300m before taking over, punched out by a length at the 200m and had enough in the tank to hold on by a long neck.

Travimyfriend tracked the winner in fourth, one out from the 800m, challenged from the 400m and kept eating into the lead but the post came up too soon.

Romancer was third (rails) turning in and was held up for a run, then did his best work late to grab third.

Long Leaf finished quite well from midfield (wide) to dead-heat for fourth with Vassilator ,who was locked away in traffic the entire straight.
