Singapore Racing - Weekend Review : 20th and 22nd of September 2019

3 minute read

Two starts ago I'm Incredible won a Class 4 event, fast forward a few months and he is a multiple Group 3 winner.

Arguably the most improved horse in Singapore, I'm Incredible has been a revelation for the Shane Baertschiger stable and is clearly trending the right way.

It's not often you see a last start Class 4 winner competitive in a Group 3 event, let alone win it, but such was the case in last month's Group 3 Committee's Prize [1600m].

Rated 75 by Timeform leading up to the event, I'm Incredible was certainly up against it, however Baertschiger was clearly confident he could measure up and that he did.

Beginning well from the middle draw, I'm Incredible pressed on to settle second with the Hideyuki Takaoka trained Makanani taking up the running.

Conceding at least 7L to Makanani approaching the 600m, Kasim didn't panic and rode his own race, clicking up I'm Incredible inside the 400m.

While sticking on strongly in front, Makanani was paddling the last 200m with I'm Incredible looming large, taking over inside the 100m.

Strong through the line, I'm Incredible drew clear to score by 1.5L with Makanani finishing second from the Leticia Dragon trained Star Emperor.

Returning a Timeform rating of 95, I'm Incredible improved 20 pounds and proceeded to confirm that level of performance in Friday night's Group 3 El Dorado Classic [2000m].

Ridden again by Harry Kasim, I'm Incredible was a surprising drifter ($5.40), though he again proved too good leading throughout.

While both Star Jack and King Louis came at him late, he held on well to score by half a length.

Rated 95 again by Timeform, it's been an incredible rise, excuse the pun, though there still appears more to come.

"The trip wasn't a query for I'm Incredible. I knew he would run out the 2000m," Trainer Shane Baertschiger said post-race.

"He will improve a lot from the run and I think he'll be a major force to reckon with in the Gold Cup (on November 10). He's a stayer in the making.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, though his effort beating Makanani two back was clearly good form with the mare going on to win Sunday's Group 1 Raffles Cup [1600m].

In the final event on Sunday the Steven Burridge trained Lim's Craft had a winning streak broken, however he certainly lost no admirers.

Forced to go back from the wide draw, he launched late but Fame Star was already off and gone.

A key sectional star, he is loaded with talent and happy to declare him over the line if he can draw a gate at his next start.

Started $3.40 on Sunday as well, so not necessarily anchored with a short SP.

He is a must for your blackbook, he will be winning many races.
