Singapore Racing - Weekend Review : 11th and 13th October 2019

3 minute read

The Steven Burridge trained Lim's Craft broke back into the winner's stall on Friday night, when simply too sharp in the seventh event.

A real eye catcher the start prior, Lim's Craft took full advantage of the better draw and easily justified his heavy market support ($1.60).

Ridden by the much in-form Benny Woodworth, Lim's Craft always appeared in firm control, despite racing tight for the majority.

Sitting sixth coming into the straight, Lim's Craft was only 3L off the lead and quickly forced his way into the clear on straightening.

Let rip inside the 300m, he started to work through his gears.

Displaying a very sharp turn of foot, he quickly ambled up to the lead and put them away inside the 100m.

Racing away late, he scored easily by just under two lengths.

In eight starts he has only missed the money once, which came first up when he had no luck.

He has won three of his last four and excuses can easily be made for his defeat two back, when simply left with too much to do.

Forced to go back from the wide draw, he really launched late, but Fame Star was already off and gone with Lim's Craft running him to just shy of 3L.

A sectional star all the way through, he is loaded with ability and it was great to see him adopt a more forward position.

We had seen him race on-speed in lesser company, but still wanted to see him do it at this level.

The last thing you want is a backmarker, they require so much to go their way, especially when you start raising the bar.

It is expected he will be stepped up to Class 2 company at his next outing, with Burridge very pleased with his performance.

"We always thought he had plenty of upside, the way he did it tonight was very good," Burridge said.

"We'll have to step him up, probably in Class 2 and over further as well. Benny [Woodworth] is riding with full of confidence at the moment, he came out at the right time."

Only lightly raced, he looks to have plenty of blue sky ahead and while likely to be better again next preparation, he is definitely worth following.
