Stakes placed last season at two and a maiden winner nine days ago at Wyong, Akari gets her maiden stakes win in a fighting finish here at start five.

Settling third last, one out, she remained back to the 600m where she crept forward and at the top of the straight peeled out four wide to challenge.

Accelerating quickly to co-lead at the 200m she looked to dash clear but had to dig deep when challenged herself but fought hard and held on by a long neck.

A nice finish from Betcha Flying who was last at the 800m and still last at the 400m. She didn't get out until the 150m then finished strongly for second.

Mayaaseh sat a distant third at the 600m, went up three wide at the 400m and co-led at the 300m. She gave the winner a good fight, relenting inside the 50m then held on gamely for third.

Special Snap was second at the 400m, led briefly then hung on for a distant fourth.
