Fabergino wins Furphy - R S Crawford Stakes Listed, $100,000, Ascot, 1000m.
Back to her preferred distance, lightly raced speedy 5YO mare Fabergino ,winner of her first four on end and five from eight prior to this, gets her maiden stakes win at her first attempt.
She swept to the front before they reached the first corner and had a length lead past the 400m.
Into the straight she tried to slip clear, stretched the lead to two lengths, the lead shrinking to less than a length inside the 50m but she had just enough in the tank to hold on by a long head.
Stageman got off the fence in fifth at the 400m, balanced in the straight and went after the winner, chased hard late but came up a shade short.
Flirtini was fourth, one out and one back turning in and finished strongly for a close up third while Senorita Bonita had every chance in the straight, battling away for fourth.
The first three were clear of the rest.
