Gamay wins N.Z. Bloodstock Ethereal Stks Group 3, $200,000 at Caulfield, 2000m.

Gamay came into calculations for the VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) with a solid performance in winning The Archie Alexander-trained filly here. She worked a bit in the early stages before settling in fifth place, one off the rails. She moved up nicely rounding the home turn, challenged at the 200m and then fought best to win well.
 

Vegas Jewel settled just beyond midfield, moved up (very deep) rounding the home turn, challenged on passing the 200m and then fought really well for second, her first defeat in three starts.

Celestial Falls was trapped wide from her difficult barrier (10) before going to the front at the 1200m. She challenged coming to the home turn and then showed courage in holding on well for third.

Ocean Miss was wide early on before settling in third place. She moved up nearing the home turn, took a narrow lead at the 200m and then did well in fighting on for (3.4 lengths) fourth, staging a sound effort at only her third start.
