A professional win by Not An Option who, in maintaining his unbeaten record in two starts, came away over the last 100m with plenty in hand.

He settled midfield, one out, remaining there to the crossing. Reaching the course proper he was presented with a lovely gap and moved out three wide with a great view.

Jockey Leith Innes gave him time to balance, issued two slaps and the colt lowered to go after the leaders. At the 150m he accelerated, caught the leaders and then powered clear for an easy length and a quarter win.

Power 'N' Glory led them over the crossing, tried to kick clear at the 300m but was caught at the 100m yet fought well to hold second.

Unition sat second at the crossing, tried hard to get on terms with the pacemaker from the 200m then hung on for third.

Tivaan Warrior was handy enough at the top of the straight but was unable to go with the first three, battling away for fourth.

Challenge Stakes (G2)

Age: 2yo Type: OPEN

This G2 2yo over 1100m saw the Australian bred Not An Option overpower his opposition late and the colt was drawing away on the line. The winners and where they turned for home in race order were sixth (two-off the inside and five lengths from the leader), ninth (four-off the inside and four lengths from the leader), led (two-off the inside and two lengths in front), fourth (six-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), fourth (three-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), second (four-off the inside and a length from the leader), third (three-off the inside and a length and a half from the leader), fifth (two-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader) and fifth (three-off the inside and two lengths from the leader). Not An Option raced fifth surrounded then stride up fourth turning for home before reaching third at the 400m and setting out after the leaders. He sustained his run to be a distinct threat at the 100m and then took over with 25m to go scoring by just under a length and a half in 1:04.11 and record his second win from as many starts. Obviously it was his first Blacktype success and up until and including today he had never been beaten on raceday and at the trials. Power 'N' Glory set the pace and was a length clear mostly seemingly the winner still with 100m to go but the gelding was overpowered late. His form has stacked up in all his career outings to date. Unition jumped as favourite, after a good win on debut at Listed level and sat second the outer trying before being third at the 50m. He tried hard but will be all the better when fully strengthened up. Tivaan Warrior trailed the leaders and fought on okay albeit in a gap. She was a maiden still today but would be G2 placed at her next start and win a race two outings after that. Ohio Showgirl raced sixth or seventh and fought on okay for fifth. De La Terre ran second favourite and after an awkward start and getting back she was seen to be running on not too badly. Amosia battled away from racing eighth mostly while the rank outsider Leeside had a wide run fifth then third and the overland effort told. Showmehowitsdone got back and wide and never ever looked a possibility. This was a reasonable strength juvenile but certainly not a G2 event and most of the form never ever stood up at all afterwards. The winner Not An Options has some scope but may not be as good as his reputation and the third finisher Unition could well end up the best out of this race.
