This G3 mile for 3yo fillies saw Lilikoi outclass her rivals when she bounded into the lead early the run home. The winners and where they turned for home in race order were sixth (four-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), fifth (three-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader), led (on the fence and half a length in front), eighth (eight-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), fifth (four-off the inside and two lengths from the leader), co-leader (one-off the inside), third (five-off the inside and a neck from the leader) and sixth (six-off the inside and three lengths from the leader). Lilikoi raced fourth then third the outer poised in the running then was let stride up near the home turn before pouncing on the leaders and taking over at the 350m. The filly was nicely clear at the 200m and ended up winning by almost two lengths in 1:37.71 to record her second win in six starts and obviously a first Blacktype success. The time was nothing fantastic but was marginally quicker than the Ratings65 held prior to this feature of the days racing event. Manchu led or disputed the pace on the inner for most of the race until being headed at the 350m and thereafter she tried in vain to stay with the winner but to no avail. Showbeel raced fifth or sixth the outer and really unwound hard the closing stages to get third on the post. Aalaalune settled down last then swept up wide near the home turn and entered the run home fourth and deepest. She reached third at the 100m but lost that Blacktype spot on the post. Queen Kamada sat second the outer and challenged the leader across the top before wilting the run home. Power 'N' Passion raced handy the inner and weakened while Belle Plaisir raced second last the inner and was last turning for home before dropping right out. This was a reasonable strength G3 race and the best four fillies in the race filled those berths at the line. The top three fillies in the land however were not here namely Jennifer Eccles, Two Illicit and Loire.
