Madam Rouge wins Christmas Classic, Listed, $150,000 at Randwick, 1200m.

Madam Rouge was simply too strong despite a three wide trip and had this wrapped at the 200m for her second stakes and fourth win at start 16. She broke well but soon drifted to settle sixth (three deep) where she remained past the 800m.

From there she made ground on the leaders and swinging for home gave them a three length start. Near the 300m she accelerated quickly, caught the leader at the 200m and was in no danger after that, eased short of the post by jockey Kathy O’Hara, a length and a quarter clear.

Glenall sat second last, one out at the 800m and still second last rounding into the home straight. He didn’t find clear air until inside the 200m and finished well for second.

Albumin sat outside the lead to the top of the straight, challenged but never saw the lead and then battled hard the last 100m to hold third from pacemaker Oriental Runner  who tried to slip them at the 300m before fading to fourth. 1st dam:
