Still A Star wins Kevin Sharkie Launceston Guineas, Listed, $100,000 at Launceston, 2100m.

Still A Star followed up her win in the Tasmanian Guineas (Listed, 1600m) at Launceston on January 4 with a most impressive effort in scoring here, her fifth win (with five seconds) in 10 starts.

After racing deep in the early stages from a wide barrier, she settled nicely in sixth place, one off the rails, before improving approaching the home turn. She easily took the lead on turning for home and then raced away to score a very easy win, strongly running out the step up to 2100m. She is a classy filly.

Heaven's Bonus settled in fourth place (one out and one back) before moving up at the 600m. He headed off the leader (Superhombre) rounding the home turn but had no chance with the winner's bid in the straight, holding on to take second in a sound effort.

Vamos Raffa settled near the tail of the field on the rails. He improved between runners at the 600m, moved up deep at the home bend and kept running on well to take the minor placing.
