Probabeel showed she was close to her peak with a convincing last start win and returned here, to the scene of her Karaka Million (2YO) victory of last year and won the 3YO version very well for her fifth win in 11 starts.

After a smart beginning she quickly dropped back and past the 1200m sat fifth last, easing further to third last at the 800m.

From the 600m she went forward and at the top of the straight was widest of all and with much to do.

Racing greenly Opie Bosson steadied her, raced up to challenge for the lead at the 200m then went clear. To the line she was in control with a length and a half up her sleeve.

Unlucky Conqueror was fourth last (rails) at the 800m, threaded through rounding into the straight only to be tightly squeezed at the 250m and buffeted again before going after the winner and finishing a strong second.

Hasstobegood was handy enough in sixth at the 600m, got into a bumping duel at the 250m then fought on well to hold third, the first three clear of the rest.

Harlech was back and wide turning in and ran on fairly for a distant fourth.

Karaka Million 2yo (LR)

Age: 2yo Type: OPEN

This Listed event for a million dollars saw Cool Aza Beel win convincingly and record his third win in four starts. The winners today at Ellerslie and where they turned for home in race order were fourth (five-off the inside and a length from the leader), sixth (four-off the inside and three lengths from the leader), fifth (three-off the inside and two and a half lengths from the leader), third (four-off the inside and a length from the leader), seventh (three-off the inside and three lengths from the leader) and sixth (eight-off the inside and three lengths from the leader). The colt from a nice draw raced fourth on settling and then strode up to lead early in the in the run hone and never looked like getting beaten clocking 1:10.58 in the process. Today was his first Blacktype win and after today he would run third at G3 then win at G1 over 1200m at Ellerslie. He would wrap up juvenile of the year with an impressive four wins from six starts. Second home was the favourite Play That Song that raced three back the inner then worked off and loomed up at the 400m for second. She tried hard thereafter but the winner always had her covered. In one more start after today she would flash home for fourth in the G1 Sistema Stakes won by Cool Aza Beel. Third home was Taroni that came with a solid finish from well back in the field. Fourth home and beaten over six lengths was Bordeaux Le Rouge that got home well from the back albeit distantly. Dragon Queen led early then trailed and was a tad green when trying to clear stoppers the final 100m. Most of the rest were beaten on their merits but seventh home was De La Terre that ran home well from the rear and she would win her first two starts back as a 3yo filly this year. Helsinki ran a better eighth than it can ever be described and he will keep until next season. Not An Option hard a horror run back and wide and his race was run before the home turn, The first three home were very dominant over the rest.
