Singapore Racing - Weekend Review - Star Of Jupiter A Must Follow

The Shane Baertschiger trained Star Of Jupiter went down first up, but lost no admirers and is a must for your blackbook.

Formerly trained by Team Snowden [Old Name: Spin], the son of I Am Invincible displayed plenty of ability in his 15 starts, despite only notching up two wins.

He was group placed multiple times as a two-year-old and notably finished third in the 2018 Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes [1200m] behind Sesar.

He left Australian shores off a win and possesses a career peak rating of 111, when finishing fifth in the Group 1 Sires' Produce Stakes [1400m].

Admittedly his rating of 101 is a more relevant number given he achieved it in the last 12 months.

His rating of 111 contains 12kg of WFA and until he produces that figure again, would use 101 as a stronger reference point.

An impressive winner in his Singapore debut, Star Of Jupiter was thrown in the deep end at his next start (Gr.2 EW Barker Trophy), only to have clear excuses when he bled.

Off the scene for 119 days, he looked good at the trials, though was alarming drifter, sent out 17-1 in the seventh event on Friday night.

I'll be honest I took $7 early and I thought that was a cracking bet, I wasn't overly upset he didn't get there.

The Dan Meagher trained Lim's Dream was never in doubt, leading throughout, however Star Of Jupiter's effort in defeat was still very good.

A sectional star, Star Of Jupiter returned a Timeform rating of 86 with a hint of more to come.

Still can't work out why he was such an alarming drifter, though when looking at his horse weight, it was the lightest he had stepped out in Singapore.

Usually that would suggest he is very forward, however suspect it could have been viewed as a key negative.

On debut he weighed 507kg, was 512kg in the EW Barker, before weighing in at 498kg on Friday night.

Regardless for a horse of his talent, I just can't see how he started such a big price.

On debut he was sent out $2.20 and started 8-1 in the Group 2 EW Barker Trophy [1400m], crazy to think he started double the odds in a Class 2 rising just 1.5kg.

All we can hope is that it does work in our favour, with his SP working as an anchor for his next starting price.

He should improve with that run under his belt and Baertschiger still has the blinkers up the sleeve.

Quite versatile it will be interesting to see which way Baertschiger heads with him, either way he is a must follow.
