Gawler Races Review on 2nd January 2021

Murray Bridge trainer Karen Byrnes brought up her second winner in twenty-four hours when Street Life took out a Benchmark 78 Handicap of 1200 metres at Gawler on Saturday.

Guided to victory by Todd Pannell, Street Life  came from a midfield position with a strong run over the concluding stages to win comfortably.  Byrnes' winner yesterday at Murray Bridge was the Dom Tourneur guided former NSW galloper Rubble.

Having her second start Indian Gazelle pleased her Gawler trainer Brett Campbell when she took out the 1400 metre second race.

Ridden by Barend Vorster Indian Gazelle  came from a midfield position with a strong run late in the event.

The father and daughter training combination of Richard and Chantelle Jolly continued their good run when Montepulciano was the narrow winner of the 1505 metre third race.

Breaking his maiden status the Jake Toeroek guided Montepulciano came from a midfield position to power home over the concluding stages.

Carrying blinkers of the first time Pearl Bandit gave jockey Jason Holder victory in the 1505 metre fourth race.

Coming out of the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas stable Pearl Bandit  came from a worse than midfield position to bring up win number five from twenty-eight starts.

Jockey Jessica Eaton continued the good run of top jockeys when she guided Khani Star to victory in the 1200 metre fifth race.

Making it two wins from two starts the Darren Magro trained Khani Star was well placed.

A $35,000 purchase at the Adelaide Magic Millions sale in 2018 continues to pay off after the Phillip Stokes prepared Taken Off won the 1200 metre sixth race taking his winnings to $105,000 so far.

The Kayla Crowther ridden Taken Off settled well and went on to continue his good-form.

Trainer Phillip Stokes and jockey Kayla Crowther landed the second leg of a race o race double when four of a Kind took out the 1100 metre seventh race.

Making it three wins from four starts at Gawler Four of a Kind powered home from a near last position on the home turn.

Kayla Crowther brought up a perfect hat-trick when she rode Stan the Caddy to a win in the 2105 metre eighth race.

Prepared by Will Clarken at Morpehttville Stan the Caddy, a $25,000 purchase at Adelaide MM Yearling Sale, raced one off the pace before drawing away to win.

After winning the last race on New Year's Day on Rubble at Murray Bridge Dom Tourneur repeated his winning form in the last race when he rode Li'l Hank to victory in the 1505 metre final event.

Prepared at Murray Bridge by Jordan and Jemma-Louise Frew, Li'l Hank was seen running on strongly from a midfield position.
