Keep an eye on: She's Pretty Rich

3 minute read

Racing and Sports provides a horse to watch coming out of Thursday metropolitan racing on November 4.

Flemington

Race 3: She's Pretty Rich.

On debut in the Ottawa Stakes (1000m), this Mathew Brown-trained filly was hesitant upon leaving the gates, before eventually taking a spot toward the tail of the field.

The daughter of Written Tycoon raced keenly through much of the early going and only settled when approaching the 500m.

Weaving in and out of traffic trying to attain a passage, it wasn't until passing the 200m that jockey Brian Higgins was able to position his mount in clear running.

When clear the two-year-old filly worked through her gears nicely, taking good ground off her rivals in a dash to the line.

Approaching the winning post, the pair once again found themselves in restricted room, with Higgins needing to restrain the filly over the concluding stages, ultimately finishing 2.6L away in fourth.

The manner in which She's Pretty Rich was able to accelerate in a short period of time was impressive and with any luck in running would've been fighting out the finish.

The debut of this filly was extremely encouraging and suggests that she will appreciate stepping out in distance in proceeding runs. Worth following.
