Three kg claiming apprentice Ellis Wong maintained his good strike rate when he won the opening race of 1506 metres on Chromium at Gawler on Saturday.

Prepared at Murray Bridge by Nicole Irwin Chromium  began in the middle of the field then steadily improved to lead into the straight with a rails-run to win.

The consistent money earner Victory Bandit put in a strong run to bring up her second win from fourteen starts, just one of which was not a placing, when she took out the 2106 metre fourth place.

Coming out of the Murray Bridge stable of Sue and Jason Jaensch Victory Bandit came with a strong rails-run from a midfield position to meet with success.

Apprentice Jacob Opperman continued his good run when Kungka Maru took out the 1200 metre fifth race.

Being under the care of trainer Ryan Balfour Kungka Maru jumped well before drifting back to a midfield position but was seen running on strongly late in the event.

Jacob Opperman landed the second leg of a running double when his mount Great Leveller took out the 1100 metre sixth race.

Bringing up his third successive win the Jon O'Connor prepared Great Leveller  was one off the pace for most of the event.

Mentor Ryan Balfour landed the second leg of a double when Fighting McLaren took out the 1200 metre seventh race.

Having the services of top jockey Jason Holder Fighting McLaren was well placed in bringing up his fourth win from seven starts.

Coming off a last start third Ultimate Victory recorded his first win in 400 days when he took out the 1100 metre eighth race.

Prepared at Morphettville by Peter Blanch the Todd Pannell guided Ultimate Victory came from last with a withering run late in the event.

Murray Bridge based trainer Stuart Padman was well pleased with the win of Montign in the 1506 metre final event.

Having the services Barend Vorster Montign came from last to power home and bring up win number two from eight starts.
