It was a strong midweek card at Sandown-Hillside on Wednesday and Trent Crebbin has reviewed the meeting and provided a few horses to put in your blackbook.

Race 4: My Whisper

The market support at both runs this time in has suggested this filly is one to follow. She was too good at Kilmore first up and was well backed again on Wednesday, officially $5.50 into $4.00. My Whisper sat wide without cover under Jamie Kah but never looked like losing, ambling up to them with 300m to go and recording a soft victory on the line. The figures are just fair but she looks progressive and being by Frankel she should appreciate getting out to 1600m in time. Look for her to have another run in midweek grade, perhaps over 1400m at BM70 level before working her way to a Saturday contest.

Race 5: Killourney

The return of classy stayer Killourney was eye catching over 1600m, getting back with 62kg and looking under pressure before the turn in a fast run race. His effort to pick up and come again in the straight was meritorious, running the race fastest last 800m including the fastest 600-400m split. He's only going to improve deeper into the preparation once he gets over a bit more ground, having placed in open handicap level over 2500m at Flemington last time in. If they went down the Country Cups path, races such as the Terang Cup (2150m) and Warrnambool Cup (2350m) in a couple of months' time would be very appropriate targets.

Race 8: The Garden & La Chevalee

This was the strongest race of the day and looks a good form reference going forward. The Garden was a noted drifter in betting after touching as low as $2.40 in betting, eventually starting $3.90, which he defied in good fashion. He sat 2nd behind Faretti who went at a strong gallop and never looked like losing, recording a soft win. He can go back to Saturday class and up to BM84 level at 1400m and be very competitive again.

La Chevalee  was first up and came from back in the field, putting in the 'flashing light' run to motor into 3rd placing. Her sectionals were clearly race fastest and she looks to have come back very well. The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace camp took her to Sydney last preparation in search of favourable wet tracks and with the current track conditions in New South Wales, expect her to venture interstate and find a suitable race against the mares, in which she'd be a leading contender.
