Doomben Race 2 - Et Tu Brute

All the talk out of this race was about the Paul Messara-trained Miracle Of Love, but there was plenty to like about Et Tu Brute's performance in behind her. This son of Dundeel has three-year-old written all over him, being by a five-time Group 1 winner at three and out of an Exceed And Excel mare who broke her maiden over 1850m as a late three-year-old herself. Trained by the same partnership in Anthony & Sam Freedman and raced in the same colours as Elliptical, it's easy to suspect that this colt will not only be better over further, but also with some maturity under his belt. A read of the sectionals suggest he was staying on at the finish as he clocked the fastest last 600m of the event. He's a very intriguing runner and one that could make the jump to Saturday grade or better in his three-year-old season.

Warwick Farm Race 2 - Need Some Luck

I'm keen to follow this three-quarter brother to the great Chautauqua wherever he goes next. Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, the two-year-old colt was set some task from barrier 11, initially settling midfield before pressing on to sit three-wide and without cover up on the pace. He dug in to be beaten just 0.9 lengths at the finish and was wandering up the track late in the race as well. He'll take plenty of benefit from the experience and with a softer barrier at his next outing, he can be passing the winning post first.
